How is smoking bad for the baby?
There are some very serious complications that come from smoking while pregnant:
- Stillbirth (when the fetus dies after 20 weeks of pregnancy).
- Early delivery.
- Low birth weight.
- Baby’s lungs may not work on their own.
- Risk of asthma later in life.
- Higher risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome
- Heart defects.
- Brain function (may cause learning problems and low IQ).
It is never too late to quit. Talk to your doctor about how to quit now.
