What is amniotic fluid?
- Amniotic fluid is what’s in the sac that surrounds your growing baby.
- It cushions your baby to keep him/her safe (if you fall, it will ease the blow).
- It prevents the umbilical cord from getting crushed, which would restrict oxygen to your baby.
- It helps keep a constant temperature in the womb.
- Protects against infection.
- Allows your baby to move around so its bones and muscles grow the right way.
